Welcome to Governance and Economic Policy Centre-GEPC

Governance and Economic Policy Centre (GEPC) is a governance and development policy think tank organization, based in Tanzania, with a national and regional focus on East and Africa Great Lakes Region.

GEPC promotes Economic & Fiscal Governance, Extractive Governance & Transparency, Climate Change & Energy Governance, Political Governance & Accountability through basic research, awareness, training, and advocacy. The organization has influenced public discourse and reforms in these areas, emerging as one of the leading dynamic think tanks and development organization in the region.

GEPC was started and is run by a team of professionals from diverse backgrounds, motivated to address the contemporary governance and development challenges that our countries and region face by bridging the existing gap between knowledge and practice.

In Tanzania we are registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act 2002. GEPC maintains a Regional Liaison Office based in Nairobi, Kenya.

How we Pursue Our Mission

We pursue this mission through independent research, advocacy, monitoring and constructive engagement and sharing our knowledge through our various platforms such as our training clinics, analytical publications, website blog posts and the flagship regular Governance and Economic tracker bulletins sent out to our thousands of online subscribers.  

We are a member of national and international networks engaged in governance and policy discourse in Tanzania such as Hakirasilimali, the Global Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Association and Africa Economic Diplomats study circle
